In my journal practice, I always note my first feelings on leaving a dream. Those first feelings are an instant guide to the general quality of the dream, how personal or urgent it may be, and what kind of action is required. The most common feeling that I note is “just-so”. I mean by this that I feel that my dream was an entirely literal experience in an alternate reality. I feel on leaving the dream that I stepped from one room – or one time, or one world – into another.
